About Manatee County

Manatee County is a located in the state of Florida. Manatee County (1855) was named after the gentle sea cow, "Manatee", which was seen frequently in the area's waterways. Manatee County features 150 miles of pristine shoreline boasting some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. As of 2000, the population was 264,002. The U.S. Census Bureau 2005 estimate for the county is 306,779.
